i confess i have been an admirer of the little man ever since i first saw him blast the opposition in the early 90s.i remember calling out to my son, asking him to join me in front of the tv for i then felt &still feel that for consistent mastery, nay disdain against all types of bowling, sachin tendulkar has no parallels in indian cricket. mihir bose once wrote that his idea of cricketing heaven would be bedi bowling at one end &lindwall at the other.
i would like to extend this to include sachin &viv richards facing them.
the recent spurt of criticism tends to ignore the spate of injuries which have dogged the little man. there has been no cricketer without a lean spell, and tendulkar is no exception.
if don bradman considered sachin one of the greats i am no one to disagree with him.
having said all this as someone who has been a passionate follower of the game-i wonder about the number of recent dismissals bowled through the gate while executing the forward defensive stroke.
i would like to conclude by asking all his fans to enjoy the skills of the maestro when they can&also pray that sachin regains the spirit of derring-do &the braggadaccio of his younger days
